Ponce de Leon Springs State Recreation Area - Ponce de Leon - The main feature is the natural spring with two main boils which flow from a horizontal limestone cavity in the center of the pool. The boils produces 14 million gallons of crystal-clear water each day with a year-round temperature of 68 degrees. Swimming, picnic area, restrooms . Day-use, fee $2. East on I-10 to SR 81 (just north of Panama City).

Falling Waters State Recreation Area - 3 miles South of Chipley, off Rt.77 - the state's only natural waterfall which starts at ground-level and falls 100 feet into a mossy sink-hole to disappear into the ground. Swimming in a small man-made lake, picnic area, restrooms and a nature trail, Day-use, fee $3.25. 24 sites with RV hook-ups, $8-$10 per night. Phone 850/638-6130

DeFuniak Springs 10th annual Hometown Christmas Reflections celebration - in the downtown historic area, includes over 100 crafters and antique/collectible vendors, entertainment, food booths, parade, Santa and activities for children. Candlelight Christmas Tour of Eden - Eden State Gardens and Mansion - Point Washington - County Road 395, N of US 98 - 10 acres overlooking Choctawhatchee Bay. Built in 1897, the house has a southern garden, sweeping lawns and various groupings of evergreens, live oaks, magnolias, azaleas and other flower beds. Tours; Phone 850/231-4214. Chautauqua Assembly 2000 - DeFuniak Springs - visit the historic district. The Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood is the place to get a brochure for the walking tour around the Lake (the C. of C. is now located there). You will find the Oldest Library in the state, the Chautauqua Amphitheater, numerous unique Homes of varying architectural styles with histories of their own and still occupied, the restored Railroad Depot, several Churches and a Hospital, Feb 25-27, 2000.
